A tragic road accident occurred on Thursday at Kili village along the Darazo-Kari Federal Highway in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, resulting in the loss of eight lives. Additionally, seven individuals sustained various injuries.
The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Abdullahi, provided a report late Thursday, stating that the incident took place around 12:03 pm. The accident involved a grey Volkswagen Sharan mini bus bearing registration number BCH 465 XA, which belonged to the commercial fleet of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The report indicated that a total of 15 passengers were involved in the crash. Among them were four adult males, six adult females, two male children, and three female children.
As per the report, the casualties included three adult males, two adult females, and three children (two males and one female). The injured parties comprised seven adults (one male, four females) and two female children. Their injuries ranged from bruises and head injuries to fractures.
According to the report, the likely cause of the accident was tire bursts. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Darazo General Hospital for identification and confirmation. The injured individuals were also taken to the same hospital for necessary medical treatment. Additionally, personal belongings found at the accident scene were recovered.
