The Leader of the Islamic Movement, Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), has accused powerful Western nations of planning military intervention in Nigeria under the guise of protecting Christians, warning that their real intention is to exploit the country’s natural resources.

Speaking during a ceremony commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima Az-Zahra (SA) at his residence in Abuja on Wednesday, Sheikh Zakzaky described the move as a deceptive campaign designed to justify foreign interference and economic exploitation.

“May Allah have mercy on this nation, especially at a time when it faces threats from the oppressors of the world who claim they will attack in the name of protecting Christians, while in reality, they are coming to loot our wealth,” he said.

He questioned the logic behind the proposed establishment of foreign military bases across parts of northern Nigeria, allegedly aimed at “protecting people from Boko Haram.”

“It is astonishing that they plan to begin their military presence in Port Harcout , and from there move to Sokoto, Zamfara, and Katsina, claiming to protect Christians. Yet, these regions are rich in gold and other resources. Their true mission is clear economic plunder, not protection,” Shaikh Zakzaky added.

The Islamic cleric concluded his remarks with a prayer, asking Almighty Allah to protect the nation from those he described as “agents of oppression and destruction.”

“Those who threaten to come and cause chaos, killings, and devastation , may Allah, the Most High, deal with them,” he said.

Shaikh Zakzaky has been a consistent critic of Western intervention in Africa, often accusing global powers of using humanitarian or security pretexts to advance their geopolitical and economic interests on the continent.
