- The Fodiyyah Samaru School in Kaduna state had its buildings demolished by the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El-Rufai. Despite the daunting challenges, however, the students showed remarkable resilience and a determination to move forward.
On 3 June 2023, they celebrated the completion of the Holy Quran recitation, a significant milestone for the school.
The event was a culmination of the efforts of 13 male and 14 female students who completed the Quran recitation. It was the third such ceremony organized by the school to celebrate the accomplishment of its students. The ceremony was attended by parents, guardians, teachers, and well-wishers who came to show their support.
The ceremony commenced with an opening prayer by Alaramma Alfa, followed by the school anthem and recitation of ziyaratul ma'asumin by the students. The ceremony was conducted in English, Hausa, and Arabic. Students also recited poems in each of these languages.
Alhaji Mansur Aliyu, a well-known figure in the community, delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the importance of education and the resilience of the students and staff in the face of adversity. One of the school staff led the students in the recitation of the Holy Quran, one-by-one.
Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello, in his closing remarks, spoke on the importance of education, stating that education empowers individuals to live meaningful lives and contribute to society. Certificates were presented to the students in recognition of their accomplishment.
Mallam Lukman Alfa, speaking on behalf of the teachers and students, expressed his gratitude to all those who supported the school, saying that the completion of the Quran recitation was a testament to the students' tenacity and dedication.
Engineer Lawal gave a speech of gratitude, thanking the organizers for their efforts in making the event a success. The ceremony ended with a closing prayer by Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello.
The event was not just a celebration of the completion of the Quran recitation, but also a testament to the resilience and determination of the students and staff of Fodiyyah Samaru School. Despite the challenges they faced, they continued to pursue their education, and their achievement serves as an inspiration to others.
